In Bihar, the state government has decided to implement a domicile policy for government jobs which are reserved for women. Currently, the 35 per cent reservation quota has been fixed in government jobs for female candidates. The decision to implement the domicile policy for women was taken on Tuesday in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Now, only female candidates who are residents of Bihar will be able to get the benefit of 35 per cent reservation. The proposal was brought by the General Administration Department. Women who are outside Bihar will be considered as general candidates. In Bihar, several organisations were demanding to implementation domicile policy in government jobs and vacancies to give more opportunities and preferences to residents.
The cabinet has also decided to constitute a seven-member Youth Commission to look into matters of youth, migration, their skill development and holistic development. The commission will deal with matters of migrant youth workers, youth pursuing higher studies outside Bihar, unemployed and economically weak meritorious youths.
Over all the cabinet approved 43 proposals. Several major decisions aimed at employment, youth welfare, and agricultural relief. To support differently abled candidates from Bihar, the Cabinet approved a proposal under which those who clear the preliminary exams of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) or the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will receive financial aid from the state government. A grant of Rs50 lakh along with a stipend of Rs1 lakh will be provided to help them prepare for the mains and interview stages. With deficient rainfall affecting farming activities in July, the Bihar government has introduced a diesel subsidy scheme to aid farmers. The Cabinet sanctioned Rs 100 crore for this scheme. Under the plan, farmers will receive a subsidy of Rs2,250 per acre for three rounds of irrigation. A farmer can claim subsidies for up to 8 acres, calculated at Rs750 per acre per irrigation, based on 10 litres of diesel at Rs75 per litre.
